California strong - hold the line

  • HWY 101 California (map)

On Saturday, September 27th, Santa Ynez Valley Indivisible is joining with Central Coast California Indivisible chapters in a powerful display of unity and resistance. We're drawing a line in the sand as part of the California Strong LA Coalition's ambitious effort to create a 200+ mile continuous line of democracy defenders stretching from San Diego to Carpinteria.

This coordinated statewide action demonstrates that California will not stand idly by while our democratic institutions face unprecedented threats. From Santa Barbara to Paso Robles, we'll be displaying YES ON 50 signs and showing the world that we STAND STRONG against the forces seeking to undermine our democracy.

Our message is clear: California will not back down. Together, we are stronger than the billionaires and dictators who seek to divide us. This is our moment to unite across communities and show that when democracy is under attack, Californians fight back.

As with all Indivisible events, we are committed to nonviolent action and expect all participants to help de-escalate any potential confrontations with those who may disagree with our values.

You can choose how you want to participate in this historic action:

Option 1: Overpass Rally Brigades

Join fellow activists on overpasses from Carpinteria to Goleta, holding YES ON 50 signs and showing your support for democracy. We'll assign participants to three strategic overpasses along Highway 101 to maximize our visibility and impact.

Important Safety Guidelines:

  • Signs must be HELD, not hung over the overpass

  • No backpacks or large bags permitted for safety reasons (keep bags in your vehicle)

  • Bring water and dress appropriately for outdoor conditions

  • Assignments to specific overpasses will be emailed 48 hours prior (September 25th)

Option 2: Car Caravan

Be part of the moving demonstration as we convoy from Buellton through the Central Coast. The caravan connects with our Santa Barbara partners and continues the journey up to Paso Robles, creating a visible line of resistance along our highways.

Caravan Details:

  • Meet-up location in Buellton will be provided to registered participants 48 hours prior (September 25th)

  • You may exit the caravan at any point along the route

  • Decorate your vehicle with appropriate signage and flags

RSVP is ESSENTIAL for both options to ensure proper coordination, safety, and communication. We need to know your preference to provide you with specific meeting locations and safety briefings 48 hours before the event.
